Bringing a bold, playful approach to a careers website to engage younger audiences while staying true to the brand.

The Brief

I was brought on to design key pages for a new careers website, building on an existing creative concept. The challenge was to create an experience that felt bold and expressive — something that would resonate with Gen Z and millennial audiences — while staying true to the master brand’s core identity.

Collaborating closely with the creative lead, I focused first on the arrival experience (hero section), setting the tone through layout, motion, and type. From there, I expanded the design across other key pages, introducing smooth transitions and subtle micro-interactions to bring the brand personality to life.

Key creative

The core creative centred on the company’s well-known tagline, reimagined through themed variations such as a tech version with integrated computer components and playful treatments like grass textures and rainbow gradients.

I began brainstorming how these could be woven into the site experience, exploring subtle animation techniques to bring each theme to life and draw the user’s attention without overwhelming the design.

Inspiration

To kick off the exploration phase, I set up a FigJam board and began collecting inspiration from a range of websites, paying close attention to how they used micro-interactions and animations to guide users.

Once I had a strong collection, I started annotating the designs — noting what made each interaction effective and how similar ideas could be reimagined for our project. Rather than directly replicating them, I refined or reworked the motion to make it feel distinct to the brand — either toning it down to maintain focus or pushing it further to enhance usability and delight.

After presenting the board to the creative lead, we refined the concepts together, striking a balance between expressive motion and a clean, intuitive user experience.

Design

Once the direction was set, I brought the selected interactions to life across key pages, creating a seamless flow that guided users through the site.

Subtle hover effects, scroll-triggered animations, and layered motion added energy and personality without overwhelming the content.

Prototype

I prototyped each interaction in context, refining timing and easing to ensure everything felt intuitive and on-brand, and separated animated sections to make reviewing and fine-tuning each element easier.

The blog wall fills the viewport, with posts scattered organically across the canvas and partially extending beyond the visible frame. Each post features subtle motion, responding gently to cursor movement to reveal additional content and create a layered sense of depth. When the user scrolls, the interactive state releases and the page transitions seamlessly into the next section — balancing playfulness with clear progression through the site.

The final design struck the right balance between creativity and usability, translating the boldness of the brand into a digital experience that felt engaging and contemporary.

The animations and transitions added a sense of energy and polish, helping the careers site stand out while maintaining consistency with the broader brand ecosystem.

Outcome

Created a bold, playful UI and refined micro‑interactions to better engage Gen Z and millennial users while remaining consistent with the brand.

I developed prototypes that balanced expressive motion with usability, resulting in a contemporary design that strengthens employer branding and improves first impressions.
